When you are hired, we will send an invitation to join our team on Homebase to your email. You’ll download Homebase on the app store of your phone or you can access it on a web browser. When you download Homebase on your phone, there will be different tabs that you’re able to see. We will primarily use Homebase, Schedule, Messages, and More.
On the “Homebase” tab, you can click on “Dashboard” and that will be where you’re able to see your upcoming shifts and request covers. You will also see a "Timecard", but we do not use this feature and instead use Kronos and the punch-in/out clock on the second floor of the Union.
Request Cover Shift
At the bottom of your screen, you will see a tab labeled "Schedule". Click on this to view your full schedule under the "My Shifts" section. Next to each shift listed, you will see a purple "Find Cover" button. Once you pick a coworker to request, you can send a message and click "Submit". Next, click the "More" tab at the bottom of the screen. You can view pending and accepted cover requests under "More> Requests> Cover".
Request Trade Shift
At the bottom of your screen, you will see a tab labeled "Schedule". Click on this to view your full schedule under the "My Shifts" section. Next to each shift listed, you will see a purple "Find Cover" button. Once selected you will be given the option to "Trade Shift". Once you pick a coworker's specific shift to trade with, you can send a message and click "Submit". Next, click the "More" tab at the bottom of the screen. You can view pending and accepted cover requests under "More> Requests> Trade".
Request Time Off
Under the "More" tab at the bottom of the screen, you will find "More>Requests>Time Off". Here, click on the "+" in the top right corner. You only qualify for Unpaid Time Off, so leave that category as is. Select a reason and the series of dates you would like to request off. If you have multiple dates to request that are not consecutive, you will have to submit separate requests for each. Once submitted, they will need to be approved by your supervisor. Approved and pending requests will be listed under "More>Requests>Time Off".
Send Department Message
At the bottom of the screen, click on the tab "Messages". Here you will find a group message with the entire team, everyone working today, and everyone working tomorrow. To start a new group or direct message, click the notepad icon in the top right corner. Select who you would like to receive the message and type it out.
